Week of March 1

Fourth Grade had an exciting Week! 

We started the week learning about Service dogs in our reader. We had a very special visitor join us to tell us more about Service dogs and how they help people. 

We celebrated Mardi Gras and Ash Wednesday as a school community.  Fourth Grade worked on their Service Learning Project by making casseroles for St. John’s Hospice.  Thanks to generous parent donations, we were able to make four casseroles this week!

To end the week, students enjoyed Books with Benny! 

Week of February 22

4th Grade learned about acids and bases in Harry Potter's Potions Class. We tested items such as vinegar, rubbing alcohol, grape juice, baking soda, corn starch and more!

February 15th

Fourth Grade read "The Life of Ants" this week. In science,  we started an ant farm.  Students are enjoying watching the ants work making tunnels! 

Week of January 31

This week Fourth Grade continues to read "Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone." In. Science,  students were excited to mix "potions" to find our what Hogwart's House they were sorted into! 

Week of January 24

This week in 4th Grade, students completed a research project and wrote 5 paragraph essays. Students selected a famous Black American that they found inspirational.  Students then researched his or her life and learned how to take notes and plan a 5 paragraph essay using prewriting tools. At home, students created a visual aid to accompany their essays. 

Reminders for January 28, 2022

• Student Council will be selling Candy Grams at lunch.  $1 per gram - cash or check only.  Blank candy gram forms can be accessed here.  Sales end Thursday, 2/10.  Grams will be delivered on Monday, 2/14.  

• Students will be allowed to wear free dress for Valentine’s Day on Monday 2/14.

• Presentations by Kim Jester (DCVAC) will be postponed until a later date.

• Students in PreK, Kindergarten, and 7th grade are collecting food and gently used clothing for Murphy’s Giving Market in Upper Darby. All donations will be collected until Wednesday, February 23rd. See the Happenings for more details.   

Week of January 18th

This week, 4th Grade honored Dr. Martin Luther King JR during our prayer service. Students shared their heart felt dreams for the future and created a beautiful rainbow in which to display their dreams! 

Students also sorted health products for Cradles to Crayons as part of our Lower School service project.  

Week of January 10th

Today we celebrated a very special birthday! We celebrated our foundress, Cornelia Connelly's birthday! We even played "who wants to be a Corneliaire" which tested our knowledge of Cornelia trivia.
