Week of October 26th

4th Grade enjoyed Halloween themed science experiments this week! We tested to see what would happen when candy pumpkins were submerged in water,  oil, vinegar and soda.

Students also inflated jack-o-lantern balloons using recycled water bottles, baking soda and vinegar!

Students observed what happened when salt was sprinkled on "frozen hands" or hand shaped ice cubes that is. They had to wait patiently for prizes to emerge from the ice!

To wrap up the "spooktacular" day, we watched what happened when vinegar,  ephervesant tabs and baking soda mixed inside a jack-o-lantern.  What we got was an oozing spooky pumpkin!

Week of October 5th

This week, we were excited for our Blessing of the Pets Prayer Service! Miracle the Pekin duck came to visit for the day!
Meet Miracle. She is a Pekin Duck. She was injured in March. She broke her leg at the hip. Surgery was too dangerous so we prayed and nursed her to health the best we could. Remember this month is all abilities month. Despite her painful injury, Miracle never gave up. She is slower than the other ducks and she has to work a lot harder than her friends. Miracle is a true example of perseverance. Let her be an example to all of us that even when things seem hard or impossible, prayer can give us peace and encouragement. Never give up! Today, you will share a time that you persevered.

Week of September 28th

This week, fourth grade read "My Librarian is a Camel." We learned about many interesting ways that children around the world access books. The class created posters advertising their favorite Book program or one of their own imagination!

We also learned about weather in science and the many tools used to measure and predict it. Fourth grade enjoyed taking science class out to the patio to observe clouds, wind and precipitation!
